Six years ago this month Troy proposed to me on Lake Travis in Austin. Every year we go back and eat at the same restaurant in December. I have to brag on my husband and tell you about the most amazing proposal in the world!! Troy wanted to take me on a special date for finishing my methods semester at A&M (for those of you who don't know, it is a tough semester for education majors). The only thing he told me is that I needed to dress up and that we were flying there. Troy rented a plane and I met him at the airport. Every time he would talk to the control tower he would have me take off my headset so that I wouldn't know where we were going. When we landed, I had no clue where we were. I finally saw a car that had a Longhorn sticker on it and figured it out. He rented a car and we took off. Troy was driving quite fast and I didn't understand why. I was beginning to recognize the scenery and guessed that we were going to eat at one of the neatest places ever, The Oasis. The Oasis is considered the "sunset capital of Texas", which explains the fast driving. We got there and he took me immediately out to the chapel that over looks the lake (It is sooooo beautiful). I will finish the story on the next few pictures. Sorry for the bad quality, I had to scan these pictures in.
This is Troy and I on our way to Austin, little did I know I would be flying back as his fiance!!
We watched as the sun set. Here is a picture of it setting. The pictures don't give this place justice!!
And just as the sun set, and we said "going, going, gone" I felt Troy pull away. I just figured we were about to walk inside to eat. I turned around and Troy was down on one knee holding the most beautiful ring. He said many sweet sweet words and then asked me to marry him. I think I said yes through all my tears and excitement!! I was shocked, I never suspected a thing. Troy normally acts nervous and he never once acted nervous. As we were hugging and celebrating we heard people clapping and cheering who were watching from the balcony of the restaurant. We also heard a bell ringing (which we thought was for us, we later found out that they do it every time the sun sets!! HE HE HE) We then went in and ate. He told me that there was one more surprise for me when we got home. We flew back home and he told me that I needed to change. We went to my house, I opened the door and inside was all of our family and friends. He had planned a surprise engagement party for me!! It was wonderful to share our news with everyone!! Thank you Troy for one of the most amazing days of my life!!

This year we went to our usual destination, but this time we had two new additions to share in our tradition. They had the chapel closed and pretty close to hurricane winds so we had to snap a quick picture and get back inside.
