Well Troy has been in control of the blog since I went into labor and I have had everyone ask how it all happened. Here it goes...... On Monday I started having contractions after my doctors appointment where we found out I was only dilated to a 2. In other words, A LONG WAY TO GO!!! My contractions continued through Tuesday but there was no pain with them so I knew it wasn't time to go to the hospital. On Wednesday my contractions began to get closer together and more intense, so I gave Dr. Rowe a call and he told me to head up to the hospital. I kissed the kids expecting to be coming back home that night, I wasn't in any pain so I figured they would be sending me home. When I got to the hospital I was still a 2. The doctor decided to put me on Pitocin to get my contractions a little closer together. The contractions got stronger and closer together. They checked me again around 2:00am and I was STILL a 2. They kept upping my Pitocin and the contractions got closer and closer together and of course more painful. Dr. Rowe came in around 7:00 am and I WAS STILL A 2!!! He told me I had several options, keep going on the Pitocin, go home and wait it out, or have a c-section. He explained that the baby wasn't coming down the birth canal which is why I wasn't dilating. I didn't know what to do because I didn't want a c-section but I didn't want to stay in labor for 2 more weeks. I asked his opinion and he said that he thought I would most likely end up in a c-section before it was all said and done. We had seen on ultrasound that his head was very large. So..... I decided on the c-section. He told me there was an opening right now, which is probably best because I didn't have time to get upset or nervous. We had just enough time to call the family and tell them to head to the hospital.
The c-section went great with no complications. Dr. Rowe said that he was just floating around in there and that there would have been no way that he would have come down, his head was just too big. It took forceps to get this big guy out of my belly. I will never forget the sound of his cry when he pulled him out, tears streamed down my face as I thought thank the Lord he is here safe and sound. I looked up at Troy and saw tears in his eyes as he said "Do you hear our baby boy?" I will never forget the joy I saw in his eyes. Carter had arrived and he was big, strong and healthy. Praise the Lord. The family made it just in time as they brought him into the nursery to get cleaned up and weighed. 9lbs 8oz, 20 1/2 inches long, what a big kiddo!! His hands and fingers, feet and toes are HUGE!! We definitely think he is taking after his Daddy.
The c-section has ended up being great, a lot less pain than the natural delivery of the twins(never thought I would say that). I was scared to death of the whole idea but it ended up being so much easier on me and my body. I was actually able to enjoy Carter when he got here. Gotta love the 2 day epidural!! Thanks to all my friends and family who gave me advice.
He has eaten like a champ since day 1 and luckily my milk came in on day 2. So the whole eating thing we have down. He is such a little angel, the boy never cries (knock on wood). The twins had colic by day 5 so I pray he doesn't get it in the days to come. He is always so calm and sweet. It blows me away how much I already LOVE this little boy. I do have to admit that one baby is cake compared to the twins and yes I said cake(never thought I would say that either). Speaking of the twins, they have been amazing with him. Tatum loves to cover him up with blankets and she always pats him and says "soft". They both lay their heads on him and say awwwww, baby, tartar(Carter).
We are BEYOND blessed with our 3 healthy children. We are so in love with all three of them. I never thought I would have 3 children under the age of two by the time I was 28 but I wouldn't have done it any other way. GOD IS GOOD!! I LOVE MY FAMILY!
I just wanted to thank my amazing husband, mother, and father. My family has stepped up and gone above and beyond. My parents watched the twins the whole time I was in the hospital(which is not an easy job to watch two 22 month old toddlers for 4 days). My husband has some how managed to take amazing care of me,(bathing, entertaining, and dressing the twins), cleaning, laundry, running to the store and anything else you can imagine for the past 10 days. My mother has cooked every meal and helped with the twins and my dad has also helped entertain the kiddos. I am so lucky to have such a great family that has come to my rescue. I could have NEVER done this without all 3 of them. Thank you and I love all of you!!
